Lada Niva flaps for the SAAB. It was like $6 for the pair, and $15 to ship them from Ukraine. They’re a little narrower than the original SAAB ones, and probably not nearly as durable, but they look appropriate, and are the right length.

Won’t get sucked into the tires when reversing through snow or mud. I don’t think they’ll hold up well against rocks and gravel though, the rubber is much softer than OEM, but this won’t be a problem for how/where I drive.

Primarily just want to keep dirt and water from blasting the backs of the tail light housings and wiring, which is more or less exposed (the inner mudguard only comes down part way inside the fender, so lots of road spray just flies up inside the back of the rear fender.)

Sounds/looks like a LadaPower purchase. I may have the same pair sitting on the workbench waiting to go onto the Niva.

The newer rubber is likely softer because it isn’t 30 years old and age hardened/sun rotted like the OEM. They’ll hold up about the same.

Yup, that’s where I got them. I had been having a helluva time finding some plain, squarish, rubber mud flaps for the SAAB. The only ones that came close where for Land Rovers, but they were a couple inches too wide. Then I randomly came across these Niva ones on ebay, which looked close enough, and were less than half as much as the Rover parts. I had to drill a new hole in the supports to fit the narrow bolt spacing, but they look period correct enough.

Yeah, Lada parts aren’t all that expensive. It’s just a little surprising to see them on a Saab, haha.

One Finnish Saab enthusiast is selling these 95 mudflaps for 10€/piece. He has plenty of Saab stuff.  His page hints that he isn’t very good in English.
